What do you do when your rumeging through your wardrobe and you feel like you have nothing to wear? Keep it simple. We’ve all heard that phrase but what does simplicity look like when it comes to fashion? For me it’s jeans, a t-shirt and a pair of heels.
When all else fails you can’t really go wrong with the classics. Simple outfits stand the test of time, and will always out live trends. Invest in classic pieces like a leather jacket, and they will see you season after season.
The concept of simplicity is held in high regard by many a scholar, artist, and fashion designer. In the words of Coco Chanel; “simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.” As Leonardo Di Vinci so eloquently put it; “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”.
SIMPLICITY IN LIFE
Most of us would agree how keeping it simple in fashion is great advice . However, why is the concept of simplicity so hard to grasp when it comes to our daily life? We often feel like we are spinning on hamster wheel, trying to navigate our relationship with others and our relationship with ourselves.
How can we counteract burn out when we are being pulled in so many directions from work colleagues, family, and friends? Keep it simple.
MEAN WHAT YOU SAY. SAY WHAT YOU MEAN
Remember that no one is a mind reader. Even the people closet to you will need communication to cultivate a healthy relationship. Rather than hold back and let your feelings fester on the inside, let them out!
The philosopher Confucius said that “life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.”
Expressing yourself can be a difficult and daunting task. You might be fearful of how people will respond. Wondering if they will deem you difficult. Remember, communication doesn’t have to be confrontational. Be tactful and be kind; expressing our inner most thoughts doesn’t give us permission to be rude or abrasive. It is an act of self-love to ensure that you go through life being able to communicate.
If your tired and can’t show up for people how they expect you to let them know.
Going through a tough period and need some to reflect? Let people know.
If you’ve simply had a busy day and would like some time to decompress before socialising with family, be sure to speak up.
Most people are understanding and will appreciate your ability to express yourself. Ultimately, you’ll feel lighter, less stressed and enjoy your relationships far more when mean what you say and say what you mean.
The philosopher Confucius said that“life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” Here’s to keeping it simple in and life in fashion.
