It’s December the 3rd already. Where did the time go!?
Nonetheless, in spite of time rapidly flying by and the year coming to a close I have no complaints because it means were getting closer to Christmas! T minus 22 days to be precise, but who’s counting?
The food, music, candles, fashion, decorations, and of course the tree. What’s not to love about the festive period? My tree is up and needs just a few finishing touches, I’m putting a Christmas playlist together and scattering other festive trinkets and decor around the house. Think it’s fair enough to say I’m excited.
Apart from the actual day itself I think the build up to Christmas is so much fun. You get to create a festive wonderland in your home. Experience my build up to Christmas below. There are no hard rules on what your build to Christmas should look like, just remember if possible to avoid last minute decorating or shopping as your bound to get flustered and overwhelmed.
When it comes to decorating most people tend to focus on their Christmas tree and that’s understandable as it’s usually the pièce de résistance of a room. However, what would Christmas be without the nutcracker and all the other beautiful trinkets that make the holiday what it is?
The addition of Christmas candles, miniature trees, and stockings can make all the difference when decorating. I’ve included some of these things in my home and it’s starting to look very festive! You might want to think of a colour theme when decking out your home or just play around see what the end result is. Wheter your approach to decorating is meticulous or laid back; remember it’s all in the details.
It’s the month of December and your diary is probably being filled with a number of fabulous parties to attend so why not incorporate the spirt of Christmas into your outfit choices; Christmas fashion is real! This it the one time of year where you can go all out with your fashion looks; think red, gold, velvet, glitter, sequins and stilettos. We’ve had 11 months of practical everyday style and I must say I’m looking forward to having fun with my looks. I know they say ‘less is more’ but sometimes more is simply more fun!
I don’t have all my Christmas party outfits sorted out yet, but I’ve gone through my wardrobe to see what shoes are best suited for the festive period. These Olgana Paris heels will be perfect to step out in during the holiday season. The red satin finish and fluffy strap make them a real show stepper. I’ve also shortlisted a pair of Saint Laurent sandals, Jimmy Choo pumps, and some Christian Louboutin’s. Bring on the parties!
CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON TEA:
It’s been said that tea is like a hug in a cup. Who doesn’t love a nice warm hug?If your an avid tea drinker like me it’s time to spice it up with a Christmas tea selection. Steer away from traditional afternoon tea and opt for festive blends. The ‘taste’ of Christmas is subjective but Christmas teas are usually flavoured with spices like cinnamon, cloves, oranges and ginger. Once you’ve curated your ‘Christmas in a cup’ tea selection serve some to your guest when entertaining during the festive season or snuggle up take some time for yourself to enjoy an afternoon delight.
To make my coffee table feel more festive I’ve included a nutcracker, an array of candles, and a miniature Christmas tree. My Hermes mugs and Fornasetti candles fit in seamlessly with the rest of my festive decor. Love that I’ve been able to create a Christmas themed afternoon tea at home.
In the build up to Christmas don’t forget to curate your playlist. Whether is cheesy Christmas hits, classical hymns, or soulful renditions of our Christmas favourites get your tunes playing. Music is so powerful and can really set the tone for any atmosphere. Personally, I love Vinyl and will be having a very soulful christmas courtesy of music by Mariah Carey, Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye. DJ Fransisca in the house.
